District Heights Teens Waiting For Extradition After Crashing Stolen Camry In DC: Police

Two District Heights teens are being charged as adults after being found in possession of a stolen car, according to officials in Prince George's County.

The 17-year-old boys were captured by police around 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21 after being observed in the stolen Toyota Camry in the area of Wheeler Road and Southern Avenue in Oxon Hill, a county police spokesperson said.

Officers attempted to pull over the teens, who refused to stop, resulting in a brief chase that ended in the car becoming disabled in the area of 13th Street and Good Hope Road in Southeast, Washington, DC.

The vehicle had reportedly been carjacked from the owner at gunpoint in the late night hours of Monday, Feb. 20, at a gas station in the 1700 block of Sansbury Road in Upper Marlboro, police say.

The teens have been charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and a handgun related charges. The juveniles are currently in custody in Washington, DC, pending extradition.
